The Molyvos castle - the breathtaking location of the @molyvos_festival and our home over the previous week, uniting ancient Greek history with modern technology! •
Thank you @hrakliskirlis for the drone shot 😊
To me, a chamber music festival really is defined by the character and energy of the musicians taking part in it. It is hard to put into words how grateful, lucky and honored we are to be able to welcome not only incredible musicians, but artists that are open to new experiences, new opinions and are eager to explore new territories with each other. Thank you to all the musicians of the Molyvos family - you are amazing!

Can you guess where this dreamy concert „venue“ is located? Is this winter or summer? ☀️❄️ #instatravel #travelgram
The 5th edition of the @molyvos_festival has begun! This year, we are focusing on the theme “Dialogos” - stressing that dialogue is necessary to ensure progress now more than ever. We can only move forward and bring people together when sharing and exchanging thoughts and, more importantly, listening and being open to new influences. Dialogue is essential on all levels and I am looking forward to all the amazing musicians that are joining us on this endeavor this summer!

🎶 Manolis Kalomiris 5 Préludes 🎶
As promised, here is some more of Kalomiris’ piano music - this is the end of his 3rd Prélude. 🎹
KK: Was ärgert Sie maßlos?
KK: Was freut Sie ungemein?
DD: Always look on the bright side of life!

Wow! Thank you Adrian Quanjer from hraudio.net for this review, I feel very honoured! 😊 “The start of this recital is so passionately compelling that for a moment I thought that I’d put a disc of Martha Argerich in my player, only to discover that it was indeed the new release of Danae Dörken playing the first of five preludes of Manolis Kalomiris: “Molto agitato ed appassionato”. Listening on I wondered if my ‘mistake’ was all that big. Both have an emotion rich background, giving their interpretations that extra zest; Argerich from Argentina, Dörken from Greece, a whole generation apart, but both having that rare pianistic feeling enabling them to adjust to different styles, and last but not least that phenomenal technique. [...]
Chopin’s Polonaise op. 26 no. 1 gets here an interpretation that can, in comparison with many Chopin specialists, including the 1965 Warsaw Chopin Competition winner, Martha Argerich, proudly stand-up to whatever competition there is. With her candid, nonconformist character, she delivers it with a fascinating personal touch, masterly combining power and - symbolic for the Polish soul - a large dose of passionate ‘melancholia’. [...]
This latest Danae Dörken release is an ‘all 5 stars’ performance, which I’ve given with pleasure and genuine admiration.
Should you ever have a chance to hear any or all of these pieces live, don’t miss out on it. This is a truly great pianist and … Danae is an intriguing personality as she plays.”
Looking forward to playing at the #schubertiadehohenems tonight! -

Thank you to pizzicato.lu for the latest review of my album EAST and WEST:
“Danae Dörken’s account of these pieces is colourful and characteristic. Played with reduced dynamics, Bela Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances are finely differentiated, and their dancing character develops a genuine charm. Schubert’s Ländlers, which are often devalued as rather trivial, are performed with the necessary seriousness and contribute to a deeper insight into Schubert’s complex soul life. The pianist deals no less well with Poulenc’s Nocturnes, having the right colours and the right tempos at hand to bring out the playfulness and elegance of the compositions. Edward Grieg’s Wedding Day and de Fallas Danse rituelle du Feu give the pianist the opportunity to show a little more virtuosity, whereby she never uses this for a simple show-playing. She differentiates these two compositions very well, and de Falla’s work is especially appealing with a very personal, refined rhythm.”
