In the midst of corona and lockdown, Danae Dörken is recording a new duo album for oboe and piano together with Philippe Tondre containing works by Robert Schumann in cooperation with the SWR and the French label Klarte.

In times of the corona crisis, social distancing goes hand in hand with a lot of concert cancellations and many events not taking place any more. In order to keep making music and still connect with their audience, Danae and Kiveli Dörken started a video blog, in which they stream concerts live from their living room as well as share thoughts on music and life in general.
On her first tour through Japan, Danae Dörken successfully brings her current album “East and West” to Tokyo and plays Clara Schumann’s piano concerto in A minor together with the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Golo Berg.
After her first concert in the prestigious Wigmore Hall London in 2017, Danae Dörken now returns to Wigmore, together with American violinist Caroline Goulding and a program of Fauré and Elgar sonatas.
“Music as language, the piano as a diary” is the title of Yamaha Music’s new feature of Danae Dörken.
“Exceptional talent and unwavering passion have defined Danae Dörken’s musical career ever since her childhood and have already put her on the world’s big stages. concerti magazine counted the then 26-year-old Dörken among the elite of a new generation of international artists, Crescendo called her the “discovery of the year”. The artist considers her music a means to restore balance and grant her some peace and quiet in the often stressful touring routine.”

After her successful debut at the Lucerne Piano Festival, the “Luzerner Zeitung“ wrote:

Danae Dörken’s latest solo album “EAST and WEST” is nominated for the prestigious “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik”. Her latest chamber music recording together with cellist Benedict Klöckner is nominated for the ICMA award 2020.
Standing ovations for Danae Dörken playing Felix Mendelssohn’s 2nd piano concerto together with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra under William Eddins!
“EAST and WEST” has been chosen as CD of the month in Fonoforum!
